What is Cashmere Fibre?
Cashmere is an old spelling of Kashmir. It doesn’t come from sheep but from goats. Luxury fiber not only comes from the Kashmir goat but also can come from other types of goats too. The natural color of Cashmere is natural white, natural Lt.grey, and natural brown. But people can dye Cashmere fiber into many colors. The fineness of cashmere is even and its cross-section is regular round. That makes the fiber strong in hygroscopicity, so it can absorb the dye and is hard to fade. Cashmere white is common. Cashmere lt.grey and brown can be dyed into more dark colors like black, navy blue or charcoal.

The micron of cashmere is from 15.0mic to 19.5mic, it depends on the goat breed and origin. Cashmere white is thinner than cashmere lt.grey and brown. China’s cashmere is finer than the cashmere from other origins. Among the cashmere origins, Alashan cashmere white is the finest cashmere fibre. The micron is 15.0mic, Mongolian cashmere fibre lt.grey and brown is middle at thickness, the micron is 16.5mic. Afghanistan cashmere brown is thicker at 18.5-19.0micron.

How is cashmere harvested, how is cashmere made?
Raw cashmere is a mixture of dirt, sand, vegetable matter and other impurities. Select colored fibre and low-grade cashmere, hand sorting. After dehairing process, the cashmere fibre becomes a commercial-grade cashmere.

Difference between pure cashmere fibre & sheep wool
The fiber of cashmere is fine, lightsome, soft and warm. Cashmere is the finest and lightest among all animal fibers. It has a high degree of natural curl and can arrange and hold in spinning. Cashmere fiber of a thickness of 15-19.5 microns and it is 10 times lighter than wool and 3 warmer times than wool. The outer scale of cashmere fiber is tiny and smooth. There is a layer of air between the fiber, which makes it light, soft and smooth.
